Gen Hua Yue is a Director (of Strategic Research Programs) and Senior Principal Investigator at the Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory, Singapore.He is an adjunct professor at several universities in China and Singapore. He got his PhD at the University Hohenheim, Germany in 1999. The research focus of his group is to use genomic approaches to improve the productivity and sustainability of economically important fish (e.g. Asian seabass and tilapia). He has published over 100 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has been on the editorial boards of several international journals (e.g. BMC Genomics, Aquaculture, Genes, Frontiers in Livestock Genomics, Plos One) and has evaluated over 200 scientific papers for 58 international journals. He has reviewed research proposals from the USA, China, Kuwait, New Zealand and Singapore since 2007.

Dr Beni Giraspy Daniel Azari is a commercial aquaculturist, currently working as the Principal consultant of Seacucumber Consultancy Pty. Ltd., Queensland. He is responsible for the development of Sea Cucumber Consultancy’s unique commercial production technologies for the commercially valuable sea cucumbers. He is a qualified commercial marine biologist with more than 16 years experience in commercial sea cucumber aquaculture and research and development in Australia, Republic of Maldives, Malaysia, India and the Middle East. He has been a project/hatchery manager and consultant, producing millions of hatchery produced sea cucumber juveniles for commercial farming and sea ranching operations in different countries. Dr Giraspy has a thorough understanding and experience with designing and utilising different aquaculture systems for tropical and temperate conditions.

Shahreza Md. Sheriff has completed his PhD in 2008 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in the field of genetic. Dr. Shi-Yen Shiau is the National Endowed Chair Professor in the Department of Food Science at National Taiwan Ocean University and the Chair Professor in the Department of Food and Nutrition at Providence University in Taiwan. Dr. Shiau is internationally renowned for his research which is currently focused on the biological basis of micronutrient requirements and nutrient interactions in tilapia, grouper, and grass shrimp, and their effects on immunity. He has received numerous awards for his research and teaching. Dr. Shiau serves on the editorial boards of the international Journals "Aquaculture", "Aquaculture Nutrition" and "Aquaculture Research". He has been Editor for the journal Aquaculture Research since 2010. He is the past Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Fisheries Science journal, Journal of the Chinese Nutrition Society and Journal of the Fisheries Society of Taiwan. Prof. Shiau has been a member of a number of professional societies including American Society for Nutritional Science, World Aquaculture Society, Asian Fisheries Society…etc. and served as Board Director of the World Aquaculture Society, President of the Taiwan Fisheries Society. Currently, he is the Councilor of the Asian Fisheries Society. Since 1994, 1995, Prof. Shiau has served on the International Union of Nutritional Science's Committee III/5: Nutrition and the Production of Fish and Shellfish, and the National Committee for the Pacific Science Association, respectively and since 1996, Dr. Shiau has been a scientific committee member of the International Symposium on Nutrition and Feeding of Fish. He is a member of the NRC Committee on Nutrient Requirements of Fish and Shrimp. Dr. Shiau received his B.S. in Food Science from National Taiwan Ocean University and both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Nutrition from Texas Tech University.

Dr. Annie Christianus was Graduated from UPM in 2002 with a Ph.D. (Aquatic Biology) where she is currently a lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Dr. Mohammed Ayub Hossain is an agricultural engineer, has completed PhD in 2003 from Bangladesh Agricultural University; Mymensingh, Bangladesh and postdoctoral studies from Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Potsdam, Germany in 2005-2007 under Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. At present, Dr. Hossain is the Principal Scientific Officer of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Gazipur, Bangladesh. He has been working on drying of agricultural produces especially solar drying of fish, aquacultural machinery, postharvest machinery and renewable energy for 25 years. He has published more than 90 scientific papers in reputed journals and conference proceedings. He also wrote a book chapter on solar drying of fishery products. He is an adjunct Faculty of Banga Bondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University in Bangladesh. Prof. Nihar Ranjan Chattopadhyay is attached to West Bengal University of Animal & FisherySciences , Kolkata , West Bengal , India since 1994 as Professor of Aquaculture . Standardization of Induced Breeding Technology when the natural source ( rivers ) is declining fast due to pollution and other anthropogenic activities . Misappropriation starts primarily with the transfer of technology , not following the rules of transfer and complete absence of any follow up action during 50 years of its implementation in the field. As I have noticed , realizing the short term huge profit , peoples from diverse sectors started establishing hatchery by learning the technology from illiterate neighboring fish breeders . I was really astonished to learn that technology transferred to other states when illiterate farmers visited Bengal hatcheries ( primary establishment) while in some states the entire hatchery operation is still conducted by hired illiterate fish breeders of Bengal . This unscientific and profit making approaches from the very beginning has led to the development of a series of genetic consequences like inbreeding , introgression , genetic drift and ultimately contamination of the native gene pool when the hatchery raised fishes find their way into natural habitat . Mixed spawning , indiscriminate hybridization , use of undersized fish as broods , absence stock replenishment , culling , pedigree record already drifted the technology far away from its qualitative aspects . Along with these the fish breeders of Bengal introduced exotic species from different parts of the world namely Thai magur , African magur , Pangasid cat fish and lastly Pacu from Amazon . The fish breeders , being very much innovative , not only standardize the technology but most of the leading carp hatcheries were transformed into cat fish hatcheries . Capture of deformed fish both from hatchery and wild , large scale mortality at spawn and fry stage , development of crooked spawn are very much indicative of an overall genetic threat not only to cultured fishes but also the native fauna like Labeo rohita , Catla catla and Cirrhinus mrigala . Immediate population genetic study covering vast geographical territories using specific biotechnological procedures like RAPD fingerprinting etc. may help protect the prized fishes of India.

Dr. Renata Relic has completed her PhD studies in the field of animal protection, with focus in fish welfare. She works as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of agriculture and participate in several veterinary subjects (e.g. Animal hygiene, Ethology, Fish health protection etc.) for students of Zootechnics (Animal husbandry). Among all her papers, more than 20 concerning different aspects of fish welfare. They was mostly presented at international conferences and two were published in reputed journals. She participated in two local projects and 1 FP7 project on aquaculture.

Zoology (Fisheries) from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. M.Tech. Agril. Engg. from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Ph.D. in Andhra University (Title: Farming of Penaeus monodon in Brackishwater culture ponds of Andhra Pradesh: An analysis of effect of Water and Soil quality and production”).Post Doctoral (Senior Research Associate-CSIR),And he is having membership in following feild Asian Fisheries Society (Indian Branch)-Mangalore Indian Aquatic Biologists – Hyderabad, India Indian Fisheries Association – CIFE, Mumbai, India Society of Fisheries Technologists – Cochin, India Indian Science Congresss- Kolkatha, India he is having nearly 25 national and international publications.

Dr. D. E. Babu took his doctoral degree from Andhra University in the year 1979. He did his post-doctoral research work in Biologische Anstalt Helgoland, Meeresstation, Helgoland, Germany during the years 1986-’87 and Frederic Wilhelm’s Universität Bonn, Bonn, Germany in 1993-’94 under DAAD fellowship. Prof. D. E. Babu has more than 30 years of research and teaching experience, published more than 50 research papers in journals of repute, presently serving Andhra University in the capacity of Chairman, Faculty of Sciences. Prof. Babu is serving as a consultant in the UNDP-GEF-GOI-GOAP EGREE Project on “Mainstreaming Coastal and Marine Biodiversity into Production Sectors at East Godavari River Estuarine Ecosystem, Andhra Pradesh” in the field of Aquaculture.

She is also one of the contributing author in a book on mud crab.

Julia Hwei Zhong Moh is currently a PhD student at the Institute of Tropical Aquaculture (AKUATROP), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. She completed her Master Degree in Aquaculture (2011) and Bachelor Degree in Biological Sciences (2009) in the same University.

Norhidayah Bt. Abd. Manan is currently a PhD student at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and conduct her research under Institute Tropical Aquaculture(AKUATROP).She already obtained her master degree in Aquaculture (2012) and Bachelor degree in Marine Biology (2009) also from UMT.She already published several paper in high impact journal and attend several international symposium.
